Walmart’s desire to create awareness of their top selling beauty brands, became one of my favorite packaging projects I remember working on recently. They were to be available in-store and by subscription. I participated in almost every step of this project. This included ideation, 2D, 3D, photoshoots, art direction, press checks, and so forth. Walmart’s beauty boxes sold out in-store, in less than a week! And many vlogging videos can still be found showing people unboxing their pretty subscription boxes. It was such a hit, I got participate in designing them 2 years in a row!
I was always excited about creating promotional kits for Walmart. Vendors frequently challenged us to create fun and unique unboxing experiences for the buyers. The point was to get them excited about upcoming product coming to the store. Walmart no longer allows this, but it was fun while it lasted!
Being able to ideate how packaging interacts with graphic thematics in the front end of design, is an absolute blast for me. I collaborated with another designer to come up with a Maybelline packaging idea that would tie into the main triangular visual theme of the campaign. Our 3D renderings helped show how it aided in creating consistency throughout each platform.
